Anyone try their own or know of someone who has grown their own tobacco plants and harvested it, cured it, and made their own smoking blends with it? I'm considering it but I'm not sure where to start and I don't know if I'll do tobacco since I've found so many other herbs that make much more tasty smokes (kind of blends to match my mood sort of thing with those). I was just curious if anyone had experience with the plant.

We've been making plans to grow some Rustica. Next year or the year after most likely. So much more cost effective than buying it.
Coltsfoot is one of the actives in my Tobacco substitute. Makes things all sparkly.

I've heard Damiana is good for a smoke. I've never been able to justify picking some up, not enough other uses. With money as tight as it's been everything must do double duty. I have a pound of Nettle and a pound of Sage though. So how is Damiana? Any interesting effects? May you find what you seek, Alice

Damiana is a lot light smoking marijuana but only about half as potent at the most. Very mild and not half as oily.

I enjoy smoking damiana, but only through water or when cut with another herb. It burns hotter than tobacco or marijuana and hurts my lungs......and I would but it closer to tobacco than marijuana in it's effect profile......it's more of a relaxant than a euphoriant in my opinion

You know what I like? Lavander, very clear feeling for me. I always mix something like horehound in with damiana. I also discovered adding moisture works wonders for properly curing for a smoke it helps it burn at a lower temp which also let's the oils work better.

Kinda funny. I was talking to AOZ about Damiana just recently and she said the very same thing; that people said it's like Marijuana but about half as potent, and that she felt it has a lot more in common with Tobacco.

I dunno I mean I'm such a lightweight anyways so damiana has pretty good affect on me. I can only compare it to marijuana in what the effect is like because for tobacco I've only experienced a slight "buzz" similar to a caffeine affect and then I get hyper. Like I said I'm a lightweight when it comes to affects from substances so whatever. Point is damiana has been the main ingredient I've worked with recently and I've cut it with horehound (taste) and coltsfoot (added visionary affect). This combination when cured with the proper moisture level over three months wound up being very potent. I burned it in an incense burner and then forgot where I was for a while but didn't lose all control of myself it was just extremely "mellowing."
My next attempt at a mix shall include skullcap and coltsfoot. I need to look them up again to double check on why I wanted to do that. I think it was a visionary experience but I'm going to double check on a night I'm in a better mind to be experimenting. At this moment I'm a bit off.

The combination of Skullcap and Coltsfoot should be very mellowing as well. Both are sedatives.
Seems I'm very much not a lightweight. Most things don't last long or hit me very hard.

I'm planning on using my essential oil set up to make the blends more potent. Should work really well. Of course with that course I should be careful considering I won't know how potent they are until I try em.

I suggest not putting more oil in a dose of smoking blend than what you'd be willing to take sublingually.

I wanted to distill the damiana and then maybe put it over the damiana again but I have to get to work on the experimenting. I'm not even sure that works well enough on damiana. Next I was wondering if I could do the same with coltsfoot... again not sure that extraction is efficient but I have a closed distillation unit with no rubber connectors just glass so I should be able to extract a good amount of them. I am going off the experiment I did with adding water for three months I believe the distillation will be a faster means to achieve the same thing. Like I said though I have to get to work on my experimentation because I've about read enough about it now I just have to see how it works in practice. I'm curious if it works for the skullcap too but I haven't even tried the skull cap in a smoking mix without trying to make it more potent.
