There really isn't a whole bunch I want share about myself at the moment. Suffice it to say I am in the process of returning to my path. Alice told me about this site and I am hoping it will help me further my return and learn about "Poisonous Path"it sounded interesting when I was told about it. I recently started working with Hecate. It goes slowly because I can't seem to stay focused as I would like to. I want to eventually get my kitchen and my home set up to where I can grow indoor gardens and start making oils again. For now I feel I am a little lost yet, and slowly finding my way back. I chose the name silvervixen simply because my hair is graying and is mostly silver. The vixen part comes from my husband, that seems to be his pet name for me. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will answer them as best as I can. Thank you for letting me join here. peace, silvervixen

Another old friend joins the ranks.
Hecate being the Hellenic patron of herbs and poisons, this may well be very useful in helping you connect with her. As well, myself being a priestess of Hecate if you feel you need any assistance feel free to ask. You might get something out of reading the article I wrote for her.
May you find what you seek, Alice

Nice to meet you silvervixen. I am intrigued with Hekate. I've searched a bit on Amazon. It's hard to know which are good books and which aren't. I found one book that was highly touted but if I remember correctly, it was very expensive.
Blessings on your journey.

Ty, I have searched Amazon and Barnes and Nobles... I saw a few books that grabbed my attention. I have one on Kindle by Tara Sanchez. I am slowly going through it. Nice to meet you too and thank you for the welcome. have a nice day.

Tara Sanchez, The Temple of Hecate. I'd give it three stars if I was feeling generous. If you've got money to burn, go for it, but there are better things to buy.
I mean, it's not bad, off the top of my head I can't remember anything in it I'd say was wrong, but that's partially because there's not much in it at all. Some useful ideas and a couple of interesting guided meditations, but mostly very basic stuff. Instructions for a dark mirror, a chapter on astral temples (but without any real advanced astral projection instructions), that kind of thing.
I was disappointed with how little actual information on Hecate and Hellenistic magical practice there was. Astral temples and black mirrors are universal. She included a couple of incantations quoted from The Greek Magical Papyri, but didn't bother to translate, so they're not worth much. That was about it. Little about Hellenistic altar designs, nothing about ritual formula. Not even a mention of things like conducting rituals to Hecate under the new moon.
Just seemed to me like the whole book is a little lazy, and not enough to actually practice anything.
May you find what you seek,
Alice

I have not read the whole book yet, I know not to take any book as gospel. I am using and keeping what works for me. I didn't spend anything on it. I got it free from a site on face book that lists free e-books for kindles or kindle apps. I have the app. As it is just covering the basics which is what I need at the moment, it gives me plenty to think about and to decide if I want to keep in my beliefs. I did like the section on the statuary, I may do that when we move into the house we are getting soon.
I admit I do not know exactly what I am looking for but I do know I will know it when I find it. Thank you for your insightful information. peace, silvervixen

Hello, might I mention I make essential oils? I do currently still trying to fit the equipment somewhere I can start producing again.

hello aresian, I am a beginner in oils at least doing it the right way. I still need to get the right equipment. so far all I do is use olive oil and and a slow cooker. It works ok, but i am convinced if I could diffuse the right way the oils would be better.
Alice I am still reading your Hecate article. The bear in me wants to slow down and find a cave.
peace, silvervixen

I use the Olive oil method as well for some purposes. That's the best you'll get without a still unfortunately.
Make sure you do it long enough. Letting the herbs soak after cooking for as much as several days wouldn't be overkill.

generally I let them soak 4-5 days. That's after 12-16 hours cooking in the slow cooker.
